Last time, Final Fantasy XVI producer, Naoki Yoshida shared that the game’s English recording is in its final stages. But, aside from that, no other details were revealed. Now, the producer revealed another update for Final Fantasy XVI during his appearance on the latest episode of Washagana TV.
According to the producer, they are prioritizing the English recording rather than the Japanese audio recording which is a quite surprising move. Plus, Yoshida also said that the English version is in British English.

I've been working on Final Fantasy XIV for eight years now, but I've never been to a voice recording session. I have my own policies about this. If I go, since I also write some dialogue I would want to step in and say my opinions, making the whole session seem like there are two sound directors. And I think the voice actors may have a hard time if the producer / director comes in and says different things from what they were told from the sound director. So I don't go to voice recording sessions.
I'm also not going to Final Fantasy XVI recording sessions. Since I'm not the one writing the story. During story meetings, I do say my opinions like, 'I think this line should be changed, considering the protagonist Clive's emotions…' Although the team has been doing a great job of taking my opinions into consideration.
This time, English recording is going first. And we have been focusing on British English.
Also we have to record facial movements. We can't possibly hand-animate every cut of a scene. So this time we are doing full facial motion captures and then adding voices to that. Those works are not entirely cutscenes though. So this is one of the reasons why the English version is ahead of others. We are going to start the Japanese version soon.

Development update
Producer Naoki Yoshida shared that Final Fantasy XVI is going well, particularly in important aspects of the development stage.
Naoki happily shared that the scenario is almost done and that the voice recording for the English voice-overs is already in its final stage.
Here’s Yoshida’s statement about it:
We have all the scenarios set in stone already, and the voice recording for the English version is in its final stages. Development is going well. It's quite difficult to make sure the quality is amazing.
Other details are yet to be announced at a later date. Yoshida explained that they’d rather announce another big thing until they’re satisfied with its quality than announcing more information today just for the sake of it.
We want the next announcement to be something where everyone watches and says 'I'm going to buy this game!' Thus, we are putting a lot of effort to make sure the quality is great. I want to show something at TGS, but I'm not sure if we will make that deadline. I don't like throwing out bits to string people along with small updates, so I want to show it when it's ready.
