The game will now launch on August 18, a week earlier from its former release date. In addition, on the game’s official website, a few characters was introduced as well. You can check them here! The game follows the role of the mercenary Cloud Strife as he and eco-terrorist group AVALANCHE battle against the wicked Shinra megacorporation and the rogue former Shinra soldier Sephiroth. The gameplay combines both real-time action and turn-based elements just like with Dissidia Final Fantasy. The remake only includes the part of the story in Midgar, but according to Kitase, it’s a "fully standalone gaming experience." The producer added, "At that point, we decided we're going to focus this game on Midgar and what happened in Midgar," Kitase said. "And unfortunately, we can't say anything more about future games after that, because we don't know ourselves, really." More so, Kitase said that he and his team in Square Enix are still "fleshing out" what will be covered in the game’s next chapter.
